Doing What You Love

by Cheryl on October 25, 2010

I’ve always said I feel like a lucky woman. I do what I love.  Public Relations is my passion and helping people find their voice drives my passion every day.  I’m not an avid reader of the Huffington Post, but I came across this article by Natasha Dern who writes about people who are create lives that they love.

“To be engaged in work that totally consumes you and excites you is one of the secrets of success,” she wrote.

I take away many messages from her piece.  Her reference to work doesn’t just include what we do to make money, but also important activities like volunteering for charities, contributing your efforts to industry trade associations, and spending time with colleagues, friends and family members who bring joy to our lives.

But, of course it’s not all about me.  I get just as much if not more when I contribute to the happiness and success of others.  Luck for me is not just my work with Bame Public Relations, but my volunteering for the Legal Marketing Association , Orange County Bar Foundation and Big Brothers/Big Sisters . I always contribute when people ask me to donate to their efforts to support non-profits, answer calls for advice about public relations, or when people just need a friend to listen.   All of this fuels my passion for life and inspires me to do what I love everyday.

Are you doing what you love?
